Box Elder Bugs

Identification: Adult Box Elder Bugs are approximately 1/2' long and black with red/orange lines down the back, the babies are typically completely red/orange in color.

Habits: Box Elder Bugs cluster on box elder trees, maple and ash trees. They feed on the saps of the tree. Starting around September through November, they seek suitable structures such as home and other buildings, in which they can overwinter.

Control: The best method of control for Box Elder Bugs is to have the exterior of your house treated with a residual pesticide in the fall, combined with a light hand spraying of the key areas of the interior when the insects first come on to the home. Monroe Pest Control Co., Inc. will eliminate your box elder bug infestation in one visit and we warranty our work.
