Carpenter Bees

Identification: Adult Carpenter Bees are 1/2-1" in length and robust in form. They are commonly mistaken for bumble bees, but with the carpenter bee the abdomen is largely bare and shining.

Habits: The carpenter bees bore holes into wood, making a long tunnel to lay their eggs. Weathered and unpainted wood is preferred but not necessary. The male carpenter bee will become aggressive if the nest is approached. However, his flying around may be intimidating, he lacks a stinger so therefore harmless. The female does have a potent sting but rarely uses it.

Control: Individual holes are treated with appropriate labeled insecticide. Monroe Pest Control Co., Inc. will eliminate a carpenter bee infestation in one visit and we warranty our work.
