Millipedes

Identification: the Millipede is generally 2" or less in length and has a cylindrical worm-like appearance. They range in color from dark brown to black.

Habits: Millipedes have high moisture needs. They are usually found under thick mulch beds where they feed on decaying organic materials. Millipedes will migrate in large numbers due to the area in which they live becoming too wet or to dry. During these migrations, millipedes will invade structures but once inside a structure they will die off eventually due to lack of moisture.

Control: the best way to control millipedes is to heavily soak the mulch beds surrounding the home about 5 feet away from the foundation wall, along with a light treatment around the interior of the home. Monroe Pest Control Co., Inc. will eliminate your millipede infestation in one visit and we warranty our work.
